Kuyman Style means nothing in particular, in reality. It means getting back to the top of the Google Rankings, if that counts for anything. But it doesn't really mean anything particular, other than that.
However I do have a story tell you.
It was the period between twilight and darkness, the time of near darkness while the thoughts of daytime mixed with those of the night. In a park nestled between a small, old school and a large hill, some children played baseball. Boys and girls stood in a line, waiting for a chance to hit the ball. The ball was thrown by John Smith, or at least that's what his shirt said.
His name's not really that important anyway.
As the next girl stood up at the plate to have a chance at hitting the ball, a group of spectators stood just outside the fence, observing a game of baseball.
None of this would be worth telling at all if they had been in the same dimension.
No really, the two ball fields were exactly identical. But the people just weren't the same. Instead of one group of people, there was another, occupying what looked like the exact same space.
Go figure, huh?
In... uh, the fourish years that I've been producing Internet content, I've never really stopped to think why any of it's really important. Never thought why it was important to have stuff out there, to have a presence, even if no one pays a single bit of attention.
After about twenty five seconds of thinking, I came up with this. It's important to have a web presence in order to better yourself. No one's perfect when they start out, but basic human nature is to get better. It's hard to get better when you don't do whatever it is you're trying to get better at. At least a little bit of doing. And at least a little bit of getting better.
I've written well over three hundred blog posts in random places on the Internet, made dozens of forum posts, written close to a dozen websites, composed eight or nine songs (you don't really want to hear those, I don't think), made four or five videos, photoshopped hundreds of pieces of digital art, and taken roughly five thousand pictures, all for an audience in total of less than two dozen. (Approximately) I personally think I'm better because of it. Sure, nobody reads this stuff, but that doesn't mean it's unreadable. Maybe if I had blogged constantly for the last year, people would be reading on a regular basis.
Bust it's just the need to express myself that makes me blog and do all those other things, even if no one reads them. I personally find that the more you express yourself online, the better you get at it. I could be absolutely crazy though.
Not there's no craving for people to read my stuff. In fact I'd really like it if more people did read my stuff ;)
It's a short story, hopefully a good one. Hopefully not a bit sacrilegious either.
In a flash the bit was born, one of trillions from an author's one thought. Instantly he wondered what it would be like to die a horrible death seconds later. His single bit brain wondered about the god that had created him and the god who could just as easily take his life away. He wondered why he was being surrounded by other little bits and why he kept getting passed through so many parts of the computer.
Suddenly a thought (if you could call it a thought) flashed through his head (for surely all bits are males). Maybe, if he were good enough, he wouldn't have to die. He could live forever. Surely that was it. He looked around at the other bits whizzing around him, and noticed some old bits that were around. They must have been good enough to stay. He thought then about his creator, and realized that every bit must have a purpose. He reflected on the fact that his short life had been just over sixteen cycles.
Then he was saved.
The last few days of writing my blog, I hadn't been in the best mood when I got to the actual writing of my blog. Being in a much better mood today, I think I'll try again. Even if Aunt Sissy liked the seventeen seconds thing.
First let me explain seventeen seconds thing. Radiohead, a band I've recently taken a liking too (thanks Vinny!) has an album called Kid A. Some one was playing this wonderful weird album on two different players and managed to get a seventeen second gap in between the first playing and the second. This produces one of the creepiest effects ever, and it most definitely one of the more amazing things I've ever done, especially audio wise. You should definitely steal buy this album just to do it. I'm sure that this works on lots of albums as well, and definitely adds to my subliminal messages theories.
I am in a much better mood today. Not that I was in a really bad mood before, I'm just in my normal extra happy mood tonight. In health class today (I was seventeen seconds ahead!) I participated in a skit. (I just Googled for the script but I can't find it) Anyway it was pretty lousily written, but my hilarious acting made it better. It was pretty amazing. I got to be this suicidal guy and my acting was histaricle. Could not keep a straight face. I wish i had a video. Sure suicide is a real issue, but if you would've been there, you would've laughed histarically.
Hmm... Is there anything else? Oh yes.
Ten year old Apple Computer are still viable in todays world. I managed to get a web server, a file sharing server between my MacBook and it, and a VNC remote desktop connection thing. I even found a way to hook four computer up to two monitors with switching wires around. And then when we finish the basement, I can hook most of them up down there. Anyway, dinner is done (we're at Dairy Queen again) and my battery is dying (4%, about eight minutes worth) and I have finished writing this blog. Now just to post it and say goodbye to the people on my buddy list.
I'll get to tripping later, but first lets hit marching and flying. Being in the band is quite possibly one of the most fun things ever. Not the marching (although that can be fun too), but the general feeling of a standing ovation and the rumbling of bleachers is pretty good. Heck, Alex thought it was so fun he started to fly! (More about which in a minute) As anyone who reads this blog probably knows, I don't get the chance to write in it much anymore. Most of this is because of band and such things, and another part is school. But band is great fun. I love band. And marching band will be over until the Gator Bowl after next Saturday. (Rejoice Kuyu Blog readers, all two of you.)
Yesterday was the Marshall band competition. The Saturday before that was the Black Walnut Festival band competion and parade. We lost Black Walnut to two other bands, but our show was pretty cool that night. I'm hoping I can find some way to get it on the internet. George Washington from Charleston and Spring Valley beat us. The Marshall band competion we also lost, but to me it was a moral victory. Out of thirty bands, we won marching (and some of those bands that totally stink at playing march well) and something else too that I can't remember. But we came in second to Hurricane. Mom says their show was boring but there must have been something there that caused the judges to vote that way. I haven't seen either one of our tapes yet. The moral victory was beating Spring Valley. At least we're not loosing to the same people every time.
Flying... I swear he was flying. Not tripping, no stumbling, but whole body off the ground rising up with wings flying. I'm talking about Alex. During our show there is this one bit where they put a box on the stage. Every time it seems to go in a different place. Alex had tripped over the box before, but this time he caught the ladder part. Then he started to fly. I swear he was flying. Honestly.
The third item on the list of things to type about today is tripping. And it has nothing to do with boxes, but rather pictures. I have discovered a new picture taking technique called HDR. This stands for High Dynamic Range and it gives your pictures and outstanding color range. Like an acid trip or something the Beatles might have come up with. Samples going on my Flickr soon. More about it later.
It's always been said that the third time is a charm. The person who said that is totally irrelevant, but this is the third time I've had to return to blogging. Of course, I've never really gone anywhere, but there hasn't been any real new content from the Kuyu Content in several months. You might say there hasn't been much since the whole Kuyu Gamma thing started. I know I've said it before, but this time I swear that I'm back.
If you have no idea who I am or why you are reading this, then let me say hello. I'm Kuyler McComas, and I used to be a serious blogging machine. Times changed and I sort of got totally rapped up in changing how the blog worked and the Content Posting bit than the actual blogging part. Now I've figured out that it's really a lot more fun to write a blog than it is to make one work. I moved to Vox and now I've decided to just write and let it do it's own thing. If none of this sounds particularly entertaining to you, then you may want to check out my first blog posts ever. There was lots more introduction there. http://kuyman.blogspot.com/2005_02_01_kuyman_archive.html. You may also want to read on, but you could just read my profile there, I haven't had much time to update the one here on Vox. My interests have change, and I'm six inches taller and now have an obsession with Apple Computers and Blogging, but I'm still the same person that you can read about for over a year at Blogger.
On Monday, KuyuCast Episode 1 will be released. Who participates in this wonderful show is still to be announced, but currently it looks like it will be my friends Vinny, Luke, and Allie. Vinny and I will be on my MacBook, controlling the show. Allie and Luke will be joining us via telephone. (Oh the miracles of Voice over IP.) Since my MacBook has been repaired, there is no need to worry about it crashing during the middle of recording a show, as it often did before when I was trying to record a show with Allie.
If you're knew, make sure you listen to the first five minutes of my podcast. If you like it, you are perfectly welcome to stay and listen, and if you think it stinks, you can leave. I hope you like it.
I think I will try this Vox thing, just as a way to get back to blogging. It was very recommended by Leo Laport (He's on my contacts list and he does the twit podcasts. Check those out at http://twit.tv.) Anyway, there's supposed to be a way to get suggestions about what to write about, and so far I like the way it's integrated with other web services. It almost instantly integrated with my Flickr account, and hopefully I can figure out how to make it integrate some more with other services.
I haven't found the suggestions option yet.
