Other than the marching and the playing marching band isn't really that bad.

It's a habit of mine, to start something and not finish it, let it sit around for a while, and then start something completely knew. Personality flaw, and I do it all the time. Anyhow, I'm currently trying to re-establish my web presence. Try Googling my name. Depressing, huh? Now try Googling kuyman. Better?
While Googling for kuyman is a lot better than just doing a search for Kuyler or Kuyler McComas, I would like something really cool to pop up in the first place for all of them. I'm still working on ideas for my movie, even though I don't have any real evidence except what's in my notebooks, a bit on my computer, and in my head. And I'm always working on some sort of website for myself or someone else. Writing a bit of "music" in GarageBand, playing around with my camera and Photoshop, and any of a number of other things that no one ever sees.
Maybe someday I can actually finish something.
Until then, enjoy some of my fantabulistic pictures I took in Universal on the band trip.
Hello all, what have you been doing recently. I haven't blogged in a few days, but it hasn't been weeks or months or anything. Several intersesting things did happen that you all missed out on (or possibly participated in).
Saturday was our last band contest. We won everything (which was rather easy as far as the in class awards go, considering we were the only ones in our class). And we won grand champion. That was cool. Just Google Cabell Midland Band and Point Pleasant and you'll find someone who already wrote a description of the contest and how exactly we won, including what color everyone's eyes are. I'm not young enough for that kind of thing anymore. Anyway it was very very outstandingly muddy and we didn't march the show, just another standnplay contest. Quite interesting in its own right, yet now nearly as cool to watch as a marching competition.
Friday was what will probably be our last football game. We don't have after school practice anymore. We're not going to be in the Gator Bowl. That's makes me unhappy, but not nearly as unhappy as it made Emily. (cheapsurrealism.vox.com) By the way, you should add Emily as your friend because she's cool, even if she is mean to Sean (I hope you're reading this Emily.
Vox is awesome, dig it homedog.
In history class we have this assignment where we have to do a project where we start an imaginary colony back in colonial times in North America. Last night I went over to Brandon (who is crazy creative and is in my group) and we taught ourselves how to model in 3D using Google Sketchup. Sketchup is one of the coolest applications ever, and gets my download of the week award. It really does rock that much. And Brandon is a wizard at it. We are currently modeling our entire colony in 3D and then doing some wonderfully nifty 3D flyover hoojidiggers. I promise I'll upload the video to Youtube when it's done. Speaking of videos, check the right hand side of this page under videos to see my new Youtube video. This time Vinny was filming the video. Sorry it's sideways.
I also carved a Mac pumpkin. More to come.
I'll get to tripping later, but first lets hit marching and flying. Being in the band is quite possibly one of the most fun things ever. Not the marching (although that can be fun too), but the general feeling of a standing ovation and the rumbling of bleachers is pretty good. Heck, Alex thought it was so fun he started to fly! (More about which in a minute) As anyone who reads this blog probably knows, I don't get the chance to write in it much anymore. Most of this is because of band and such things, and another part is school. But band is great fun. I love band. And marching band will be over until the Gator Bowl after next Saturday. (Rejoice Kuyu Blog readers, all two of you.)
Yesterday was the Marshall band competition. The Saturday before that was the Black Walnut Festival band competion and parade. We lost Black Walnut to two other bands, but our show was pretty cool that night. I'm hoping I can find some way to get it on the internet. George Washington from Charleston and Spring Valley beat us. The Marshall band competion we also lost, but to me it was a moral victory. Out of thirty bands, we won marching (and some of those bands that totally stink at playing march well) and something else too that I can't remember. But we came in second to Hurricane. Mom says their show was boring but there must have been something there that caused the judges to vote that way. I haven't seen either one of our tapes yet. The moral victory was beating Spring Valley. At least we're not loosing to the same people every time.
Flying... I swear he was flying. Not tripping, no stumbling, but whole body off the ground rising up with wings flying. I'm talking about Alex. During our show there is this one bit where they put a box on the stage. Every time it seems to go in a different place. Alex had tripped over the box before, but this time he caught the ladder part. Then he started to fly. I swear he was flying. Honestly.
The third item on the list of things to type about today is tripping. And it has nothing to do with boxes, but rather pictures. I have discovered a new picture taking technique called HDR. This stands for High Dynamic Range and it gives your pictures and outstanding color range. Like an acid trip or something the Beatles might have come up with. Samples going on my Flickr soon. More about it later.
I'm sorry I haven't blogged in so long, I've been busy with band. A year ago if you told me I wasn't going to have time to blog because I was busy marching my butt off, I probably would have laughed. A lot. The time has come when I can no longer laugh because it has become somewhat of a reality. And that sucks. I love band, but I hate not having any time to blog and being to tired to blog even when I get home. So I have come up with an idea. I blog whenever I get a chance. And that's just about it. So until I have time (tomorrow), you can read the one I wrote about an hour ago. Adious!
